George Janson

George Janson coached for Tiffin University from 1962-90. He helped redefine Dragon athletics in the 1960s and 1970s. The men's basketball team became a power in the Lake Erie Conference from 1964-73, following that with a Mid-Ohio Conference title in 1976. In all Janson won 529 games, five LEC titles, one MOC title, two National Little College Athletic Association championships, and led the nation in scoring in 1969 at 110 points per game. He coached five different programs at TU. Over his first 10 years of coaching the basketball team compiled a 171-72 record, the greatest single stretch of dominance in TU history. He also helped TU to their only MOC golf title, and led the women's basketball program into postseason competition for the first time.
