Dragons land 8 wrestlers on All GMAC squad; Bronne, Simcoe land top honors

A school-record eight Tiffin University wrestlers were named to the All GMAC squad, including four First Team picks, as the Dragons went a perfect 5-0 at the GMAC Championship.

One of the First Team picks was Hayden Bronne (18-5 overall record), who was named GMAC Wrestler of the Meet. Bronne had the most powerful showing of the tourney, as the national falls leader upped his totals with five straight pins to go unbeaten in the GMAC. Two of his pins were under 1:00. 

Joey Simcoe was named GMAC Coach of the Meet, leading the Dragons to a perfect 5-0 mark. This marks Simcoe's third Coach of the Year honor, having won in the GLIAC in 2016 and last year in the GMAC.

Also landing First Team selections were 157 pounder Trey Grine, 165 pound Bryan LaVearn, and 285 pound David Henson. Henson (15-6) came up big for the Dragons over and over, posting three close decisions while also getting a pin. His 5-1 decision over Lake Erie secured the title for the Dragons.

Grine (16-0) was unbeaten at 5-0, posting three pins, a tech fall, and a major decision in a dominating showing. LaVearn (29-10), meanwhile, also went 5-0, posting a pin along with three forfeits. 

Second Team picks went to Hunter Langeloh at 149 pounds, Richard Screptock at 184 pounds, and Nick Smythe at 197 pounds. 

Langeloh (9-11) went 4-1 at the GMAC Duals, getting three wins by fall, while Smythe (9-16) also stepped up big time to go 4-1 with two close decisions along with two forfeit victories. Screptock (16-12) went 4-1, posting a pin, tech fall and major decision in a strong showing. 

Dylan Mansor (21-17) was also an Honorable Mention pick at 141 pounds. He went 3-2 overall at the tourney.

Voting for the All GMAC squad was done by the coaches and only factored in the results from the Championship Duals.
