Dragons Fall to West Liberty 79-66

The Tiffin University women's basketball team (4-9, 1-4 GMAC) fell to non-conference opponent West Liberty 79-66.

The Dragons started the game well, building a 9-5 lead in the first five minutes of play. The Hilltoppers responded with a 4-0 run, tying the game at 9-9. Tiffin outscored West Liberty 8-0 the rest of the first quarter to lead 17-11.

TU continued to increase their lead and led 21-11. The Hilltoppers chipped away at the Dragons' lead to cut it down to 23-21 with 6:22 left in the second quarter. Tiffin responded with a 10-4 run to lead 33-25 at halftime.

West Liberty's halftime adjustments worked wonders as they outscored Tiffin 33-9 in the third quarter to lead 58-42 heading into the final frame.

In the final frame, Tiffin started with a 6-3 run to cut the Hilltoppers' lead to 61-48 but West Liberty hit key free throws to seal the 79-66 win.

Jada Tate led the team with 17 points shooting 8-for-18 from the field, had three rebounds, two steals, and one assist, while Savanah Richards had 12 points shooting 6-for-14 from the field, grabbed four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Catara Dejarnette tallied 11 points shooting 5-for-19 from the field, grabbed three rebounds, one assist, and one steal, and teammate Kirsten Williams scored 10 points shooting 5-for-12 from the field, had a team-high seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
