Dragons Push Past Lake Superior State 59-39

The Tiffin University women's basketball team (3-3, 0-0 GMAC) defeated Lake Superior State 59-39.

The Dragons shot well from the field, shooting 38.2 percent compared to the Lakers' 29.4. TU outrebounded the visitors 39-35, scored 27 points off turnovers compared to Lake Superior's 7, and scored 32 points in the paint versus the Lakers' 12.

Through the first five minutes, Tiffin held a 7-5 lead. TU went on a 5-0 run to extend their lead to 12-7. The Dragons ended the first quarter with a 5-0 run to lead 20-13.

The Lakers came out with a 7-2 run to cut the Dragons' lead down to 22-20. Tiffin responded with a 6-2 run to go into the half up 28-22.

Lake Superior came out of the break strong with an 8-3 run to cut the Dragons' lead down to 31-30. Tiffin ended the third quarter on a 7-0 run, leading 38-30 going into the final frame.

TU continued their offensive dominance and went on a 9-5 run to lead 47-35 midway through the fourth quarter. The Dragons made some clutch free throws to extend their lead and seal the 59-39 win over the Lakers.

Kirsten Williams led the offense with 13 points shooting 5-for-10 from the field, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals, followed by Savanah Richards who tallied her first double-double of the season as she scored 11 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists, and one steal.
