DETROIT, Mich. - Tiffin women's basketball fell behind early on the road at Wayne State and could not engineer a comeback as the Dragons fell to the Warriors 75-63.

Wayne State opened the game with a 21-8 advantage after the first quarter and were able to hold off Tiffin despite the Dragons outscoring the Warriors over the final three frames.

Tiffin also had the edge throughout the contest in shooting, outpacing Wayne State 33.8% to 32.3% from the field and 38.5% to 23.5% from deep.

The Warriors' big advantage in the contest came from the free throw line, however, as the home team recorded 20 more attempts from the charity stripe, convering 29-34 (85.3%) compared to 9-14 (64.3%) for the Dragons.

Brooke Wesner led the Dragons in her home state with a career-high 15 points including 4-7 shooting from beyond the arc. Aarion Nichols added 12 points, five rebounds, and seven assists, while Jasmine Watts pulled down 11 boards for Tiffin. Jada Tate also came off the bench to contribute nine points and five rebounds.

After falling behind by 13 points at the end of one, the Dragons began a comeback attempt at the beginning of the second quarter with a quick 8-2 run to cut the deficit to seven, 23-16. Nichols started the run with a triple, Tate added a layup, and Payton Vogel capped it with another Tiffin three. 

The Warriors were able to put an end to the run, however, and went into halftime with an 11-point advantage.

Tiffin cut the deficit to single digits on multiple occasions in the third quarter, but Wayne State managed to climb back up to a 12-point lead, 57-45, with 10 minutes to play.

Back-to-back triples from Jensen Hiegel and Savanah Richards brought the Dragons within six, 63-57, with just over four minutes remaining. That was as close as Tiffin would come, though, as Wayne State scored 11 unanswered points over the next three minutes to pull away for the win.

The Dragons return home this Saturday after four-straight road games, hosting Slippery Rock at 1:00 p.m.
