Wiliams' Two Golds Highlight Dragon Women on Day One of GMACs

TIFFIN, Ohio - Jazilee Williams took home conference titles in the pentathlon and the long jump on Friday to highlight the Tiffin women's track & field performance on Day on of the GMAC Championships.

With six events scored, the women sit in fourth place at 41 total points. Walsh leads with 51 points, followed by Findlay with 45 and Hillsdale with 44. The Dragons will look to make up that ground and defend their 2019 indoor conference title with the final 11 events occurring tomorrow.

In the pentathlon, Williams scored 3,655 points, a new PR and GMAC Championships record, and the third-best score in conference history. She is also now the second-best performer in the pentathlon in Tiffin history. The mark is also another provisional qualifier for Williams, who now has a great chance to qualify for nationals in the event. During the pentathlon, Williams won the 60m hurdles, took second in the high jump, won the shot put, won the long jump, and took second in the 800m run.

Williams also shone in the women's long jump, leaping a distance of 5.62 meters to earn the gold. She also took second in the 60m hurdles prelims with a time of 8.93 seconds.

Wrapping up Tiffin's medals on Day One were Madeline Hayes and Lydia DePrey in the pole vault, tying for third with a clearance of 3.51 meters.

The Dragons were looked exceptional in the 60m dash, earning three of the top four times in the prelims. Keyonna McGill led with a 7.62, followed by Tatiyana Cooper-Laylor in second in 7.67 seconds, and Rajiah Andrews tied for third in 7.69 seconds as Tiffin will now be looking for the sweep of the medals during tomorrow's final. 

McGill, Andrews, and Cooper-Laylor all also qualified for the 200m dash final on Saturday, finishing the prelims second, third, and fifth, respectively.

Andrews was also dominant in the 60m hurdles, clocking a prelim time of 8.73 seconds to grab the top seed in tomorrow's final. 

Alaura Holycross put forth a good showing in the weight throw, tossing a 16.31m throw to finish seventh.

Tiffin's DMR squad also placed sixth out of 10 teams with a time of 13:00.78.
