Tiffin University's women's soccer team opens its 2021 season on the road, battling Lewis University on Sept. 2 and Illinois-Springfield on Sept. 4.

TU will face Lewis in a 6 pm contest (LIVE STATS/VIDEO), with UIS scheduled for a 3 pm kickoff. (No video or live stats available for the UIS game)

Tiffin Notes

The 2021 Tiffin University women's soccer team will look to improve on their spring 2021 season when they finished 4-5-1, 4-4-1 in Great Midwest play.

Top offensive players returning include forwards Kaelynn Harkness (2 goals), Kristen Dickison (1 goal), Julia Effinger, and midfielder Mikayla Talbot.

Defensively, the Dragons are led by Tatum Bradley and Kim Nagel, who added a goal and two assists from the backfield. The Dragons will also look to add a talented freshmen class to the mix.

Lewis Notes

Lewis finished 5-7-2 in spring of 2021 but posted a 4-2-1 mark at home...Lewis University women's soccer team has been picked to finish 11th in the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings....Head coach Chris Koenig returns eight starters from its Spring 2021 group and 23 letters from that group. Cali Havelka-Vanderplow and Niamh Hehir are the team's top returning scorers with six and five points respectively. Havelka-Vanderplow and Hehir each scored a pair of goals during the spring while Grace DeVaux, Elisa Aquilar, and Cameron Sengstock had a goal apiece...In goal, Lucy Clark played the bulk of the team's minutes during the spring with a 0.96 GAA and five shutouts. Emily Villasenor started two matches with a shutout.

Illinois-Springfield Notes

UIS went 2-9-1 in spring of 2021 but the Prairie Stars were competitive in almost every game, with 10 of the team's 12 contests being decided by one goal or less...The team's competitiveness last season was led by its defense, which was one of the best in program history with a 1.13 GAA...The top returning goalkeeper is Amanda Finnell, who started every game but two last season. She had the second-best GAA in program history with a 1.05 mark, and had a .750 save percentage...UIS's defense allowed just 4.6 shots on goal a game. The leading returners in the backfield are Maggie Joos and Claire Sokol...Top returner in the midfield is Abby Dellamorte, last year's shots leader, along with top returning forwards Taylor Mathenia, Madison Grandys, and Ally Fischer.
