Trey Grine has been named GMAC Wrestler of the Week.

Grine earned the honor for the 19th ranked Dragons following the team's effort at the Midwest Classic.

Hosted by UIndy, the Midwest Classic attracts a large contingent of the nation's best grapplers as Kentucky Wesleyan, Findlay, and Lake Erie, all competed to represent the league.

Grine, the reigning 2018-19 Great Midwest Wrestler of the Year, was clinical as he worked his way through the 157-pound bracket to win the Midwest Classic championship title in his weight class over the weekend.

Grine has been working his way up after starring at 149 pounds last season for the Dragons. TU is very dangerous in the middle weights with Grine sandwiched between Bryan LaVearn (165) and Christopher Donathan (149), both conference athletes of the week this season.

In order, Grine defeated grapplers from Quincy, Colorado State-Pueblo, Newman, UIndy and Central Oklahoma, en route to the title.

Grine started his championship run with a technical fall against Christopher Cohens of Quincy in just 1:46 (16-1). He recorded a 9-4 decision vs. Ruben Garcia in the second round before grinding out a 2-1 final vs. UIndy's Dawson Combest to get to the semifinals.

There, it was Grine taking down Wyoming transfer and InterMat's No. 4 ranked Kameron Frame (Newman) and in the finals, he brought down another MIAA star in Ty Lucas of UCO by a count of 7-4.

It was an impressive effort by Tiffin overall as the freshman Donathan was runner-up at 149 with three pins and reigning national champ Nick Mason also had a trio of falls while advancing to the 197 semis.
