It took multiple levels of tiebreakers, but Tiffin University's women's golf team finally had to settle for runner-up at the GMAC Women's Golf Championships in Lexington, Kentucky.

As the UK Big Blue course dried and the sun raised the temperature on what was a very cold two days, Tiffin heated up. The Dragons, firmly in second place in the nine-team conference standings, played Findlay within five shots in the third round to set up a medal match showdown. UF and TU played to a tie, with Lisa Marie Schumacher making a clutch putt on 18 to force a 2-2-1 tie. The tournament then went into a tie-breaker.

Both teams shot a 385, counting all five players. But it was the even-par 72 shot by Jill Schmitmeyer, the lowest individual score of the match play, that gave Findlay the edge and the trophy.

The Dragons overall shot 313-319-308 for a 940 total over the three rounds, easily outdistancing Ashland in third place with 1001.

The Dragons were led by three All GMAC performances, as Lisa Marie Schumacher finished fourth, Amanda Johansson finished fifth, and Jordan Van Meter tied for seventh.

Schumacher finished with a 232 total, including a final-round tourney low of 74. Johansson had 233 and Van Meter 238. Michaela Lindahl also finished 10th overall with 240 while Alexis Savage was 18th with 252.
