Tiffin falls in closing minutes to Walsh 63-52

Tiffin University (1-5, 0-2 G-MAC) battled back several times against Walsh but came up short in the closing minutes, falling 63-52.

The Dragons fell behind early, losing the battle for the first quarter 19-7. They came back strong in quarter number two, outscoring the Cavaliers 20-11 in the period and trailing just 30-27 at the half.

A bucket by Ellie Gabel brought the Dragons to within one point at 30-29 but an 11-0 run by Walsh pushed their lead to 12 points at 41-29 halfway through the third period. 

Again, the Dragons battled back, outscoring Walsh 13-1 over the remainder of the third quarter to tie the score at the end of the period 42-42.

A three-pointer by Pistol Brinson and a free throw by Kirsten Williams gave TU a 46-42 lead with 6:32 to play. 

Walsh regrouped and went on a 15-1 run over the next 5:30 to grab a 10-point lead with 54 seconds left. The Cavaliers hit their free throws down the stretch to put away the victory.

Neither team shot over 33 percent for the game but Walsh pulled down 44 rebounds to Tiffin's 37. Walsh also got 20 points from TU's 20 turnovers and hit 9 treys to TU's 5.

Savanah Richards led the team with 10 points and 9 rebounds along with 4 assists, while Williams also grabbed 9 rebounds along with 6 points. Presley Feltner had 9 points, as did Brinson.  

Tiffin next travels to Mercyhurst Dec. 7 for a noon contest.
