Panthers Defeat Dragons 57-51

The Tiffin University women's basketball team (6-17, 3-12 GMAC) was defeated by G-MAC opponent Kentucky Wesleyan 57-51.

The Dragons started strong, scoring seven unanswered points, but the Panthers responded with a 7-3 run to cut the lead to 10-7 with 4:13 left in the first quarter. Tiffin held a three-point lead at 16-13 going into the second frame.

The Panthers rallied and went on a 7-0 run to start the second quarter to lead 20-16, but two quick threes from TU cut the lead to 23-22 at the 5:33 mark. A tight rest of the half saw the Panthers up 29-28 at the break.

Kentucky Wesleyan outscored Tiffin 7-0 to start the second half to extend their lead to 36-28. Tiffin chipped away at the host lead, going on a 4-0 run to cut the lead to 41-36 with 1:46 left in the third. The Panthers held a 43-38 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The Dragons scored three quick points to cut the lead to 43-41, but the Panthers responded with a 5-0 run to lead 48-41 with 7:25 left in the game. Kentucky Wesleyan held the Dragons off and went on to win 57-51.

Jada Tate led the Dragons, scoring 16 points, shooting 8-for-13 from the field, grabbing four rebounds, two steals, and one assist, Catara Dejarnette scored nine points shooting 3-for-6 from the field, had five rebounds, four assists, and three steals, and Presley Feltner recorded seven points shooting 2-for-4, had one rebound, and one block.
