Women’s Basketball Falls to Trojans 82-72

The Tiffin university women's basketball team was defeated by Trevecca Nazarene 82-72.

The visitors shot well, hitting 11-for-29 (37.9%) from three-point territory and 28-for-51 (54.9%) from the field, while the Dragons shot 26-for-62 (41.9%) from the field and 5-for-24 (20.8 %) from beyond the arc.

The Trojans improved to 4-16 overall and 3-11 in the GMAC, while the Dragons fell to 9-11 overall and 6-8 in the GMAC.

The Trojans started the first quarter hot going on a 15-2 run in the first five minutes of the game, but the Dragons countered with a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to cut the deficit to three with 2:16 left in the first quarter. Trevecca ended the first with a 24-15 lead.

Trevecca outscored Tiffin 9-5 to start quarter number two to lead 31-20, and ended the first half up 40-27.

The Dragons started the third quarter on a 5-0 run to cut the Trojan lead to eight at 40-32, but hot shooting from the visitors allowed them to go up 51-36, their largest lead of the game. Each team scored 22 points in the quarter to go into the final frame with Trevecca up 62-49.

Tiffin again started the fourth on a 6-0 run to cut the lead down to seven points at 62-55 with 6:24 left in the game. The Trojans responded with a 4-0 run to bring the lead back to double-digits at 66-55. The Dragons fought back to make it a six-point game at 74-68 with 1:24 left, after outscoring Trevecca 7-2. The Trojans put the game away with clutch free throws to win 82-72.

Dana Rose led the offense with 18 points shooting 8-for-11 with four rebounds, and three assists, Brianna O'Conner scored 16 points shooting 5-for-13 from the field, and 3-for-8 from beyond the arc, two rebounds and one assist, and Aarion Nichols scored 14 points shooting 3-for-12 from the field, 8-for-8 from the charity stripe, five rebounds, and one assist.
