Women's Basketball Host Saginaw Valley in Home Opener

The Tiffin University women's basketball team will play three non-conference opponents this week. First, they host Saginaw Valley in their home opener on Thursday, Nov. 18 for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off. Then, the Dragons head on the road to battle Seton Hill on Saturday, Nov. 20 for a 1:00 p.m. start time, followed by Lock Haven on Nov. 21 in Greensburg, Pa. for a 1:00 p.m. game time.

Dragon Details:

The Dragons went 1-1 last week with a win against McKendree.

Tiffin's offense is led by Jada Tate who is averaging 11 points shooting 50 percent from the field, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals, Kirsten Williams registered 10.5 points shooting 50 percent from the field, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.0 block, and Aarion Nichols with 9.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 0.5 steals per game. All five of the Dragons' starters are averaging more than five points per game so far this season.

Scouting the Cardinals:

The Cardinals are 2-0 this season against Hillsdale and Findlay. 

Saginaw Valley's offense is led by Maddie Barrie who is averaging 16.5 points shooting 57.9 percent from the field, 4.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 0.5 steals, Kaitlyn Zarycki recorded 16.0 points shooting 53.8 from the field, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 steals, and Maddie Maloney registered 16.0 points shooting 44 percent, 5.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game. Four of the five starters for the Cardinals are averaging over 10 points per game through five games. 

The Cardinals lead the all-time series against the Dragons 9-6, with the last meeting coming on November 23, 2019, when the Cardinals won 78-57.

Scouting the Griffins:

The Griffins are 3-2 this season with wins against the University of Mary, Livingstone College, and Virginia State University. 

Seton Hill is led by Katie Nolan who averages 17.4 points shooting 61 percent from the field, 7.0 rebounds, and 0.8 steals, Christiane Frye registered 9.8 points shooting 42.4 percent, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals, and 1.0 assists and Sonia Sarda tallied 9.6 points shooting 48.8 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc, 4.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 0.6 steals per game. 

Seton Hill leads the all-time series against the Dragons 1-0, with their last meeting coming on December 17, 2018, when the Griffins won 77-66.

Scouting the Bald Eagles:

The Bald Eagles lost in an exhibition to Division I opponent Miami (Ohio).

Lock Haven is led by Ahnera Parker who led the team with 16 points in the exhibition match, shooting 33.3 percent from the field, 9 rebounds, and two steals, and Brooke Lawyer tallied 12 points shooting 38.5 percent from the field, with one rebound, and one assist.  

This is the first meeting between the Dragons and the Bald Eagles.
