The Tiffin University women's basketball team upset the #4 seed Ohio Dominican 54-53 on a buzzer beater tip in by Kirsten Williams

The Dragons were dominant in the paint, scoring 34 points in the paint compared to the Panthers' 18. Tiffin outrebounded Ohio Dominican 46-36 and had 11 steals compared to the Panthers' six. 

The Panthers came out hot, outscoring the Dragons 22-8 in the first quarter. The Dragons chipped away at the Panthers' lead in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 35-20 going into halftime. 

Tiffin's offense was on fire in the third quarter, going on a 17-0 run to tie the game at 37-37 with 2:06 left in the third quarter. Ohio Dominican went on a 6-0 run with two treys from Kennedy Schlabach to lead 43-37 going into the final frame. 

The Dragons continued their offensive pressure in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Panthers 10-2 to lead 47-45 for the first time all game with 4:42 left in the fourth quarter. ODU grabbed a 51-50 lead with 0:43 left in the game, then Jasmine Watts made a second chance layup to take a 52-51 lead with nine seconds to go.

Tiffin fouled ODU which took the lead 53-52 after hitting free throws with five seconds on the clock. The Dragons quickly inbounded and Aarion Nichols missed a layup but Kirsten Williams tipped in the rebound to give the Dragons a 54-53 win.  

Aarion Nichols led the Dragons with her second straight double-double, scoring 13 points with 10 rebounds, adding four assists and four steals. Richards recorded 11 points shooting 5-for-11 from the field, grabbed three rebounds, two steals, and one block and teammate Jensen Hiegel scored seven points shooting 2-for-5 from the field, with one rebound, and one steal. 

The Dragons will now take on top-seed Cedarville in the GMAC Semifinals on Friday, March 5.
