Tough second half sinks Dragons 72-62

A rough second half hurt Tiffin University against Walsh, as a couple big runs by the Cavaliers led to a 72-62 victory.

Walsh opened with a big 16-4 run to put the Dragons in a big hole, eventually leading 21-11 at the end of the first quarter.

TU bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring the Cavs 17-10 to pull to within 31-28 at the half.

With Walsh still leading by three points at 33-30, Walsh exploded on a 18-9 run that pushed their lead back up to 12 points at the end of the third quarter.

TU still had time to get back in it, but Walsh had other ideas, as the Cavaliers posted another 15-4 run that expanded their lead to 22 points with 5:19 left and effectively ended the game.

Overall Walsh shot 54 percent in the game, including 63 percent in the second half. TU shot 43 percent overall.

Aarion Nichols led the team with 19 points and 4 steals on 9 of 16 shooting, while Savanah Richards had 16 points on 6 of 17 shooting.

Jensen Hiegel added 10 points while Jessica Chase had 6 off the bench. Kirsten Williams led the way with 8 rebounds.
