Women’s Basketball Faces Conference Foe Walsh

The Tiffin University women's basketball team went 0-2 last week. The Dragons will face Walsh University on Saturday, Feb. 20 for a 1 p.m. tip-off.

Dragon Details:

The Dragons are 2-2 over their last four games with wins over Hillsdale and a huge upset over No. 9 Cedarville. 

Tiffin's defense ranks second in the conference as they hold their opponents to 64.5 points per game putting them sixth in the conference in margin scoring 3.1 more points on average. The Dragons are third in the conference in opponent field goal percentage at 39.2 and second in opponent three-point defense holding opponents to 30.3 percent shooting. 

Aarion Nichols and Savanah Richards lead the offense for Tiffin. Nichols ranks amongst the national leaders in points, rebounds, assists, and steals, averaging 14.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.8 steals and teammate Richards ranks amongst the national leaders in points and assists and averages 14.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.5 steals. 

Jada Tate also reached double figures scoring 10.1 points shooting 50.0 percent from the field, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.  

Scouting the Cavliers

The Cavaliers are fourth in the conference in scoring averaging 80.1 points, first in defense holding opponents to 64.5 points, and first in field goal defense holding opponents to 39.0 percent. 

Walsh's offense is led by Mayci Sales with 18.7 points shooting 49.2 percent from the field, 9.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.4 steals followed by Quionche Carter scoring 16.6 shooting 56.8 percent from the field, 7.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.1 steals. Morgan McMillen is averaging 14.0 points shooting 75 percent from beyond the arc, 1.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists and teammate Megan Ball is averaging 10.7 points shooting 50.4 percent from the field, 4.7 rebounds, 0.6 assists, and 1.2 steals.     

The Warriors lead the all-time series against the Dragons 12-1, the last time these two teams played was Dec. 16 when Walsh won 78-52.
