The Tiffin University women's basketball team went 2-0 last week with wins over Hillsdale and No. 9 Cedarville. The Dragons will battle Kentucky Wesleyan on Thursday, Feb. 11 with a 5:30 p.m. start and close out the week against Trevecca Nazarene with a 1 p.m. tip off.

Dragon Details

The Dragons are 4-0 over their last four games, posting a huge upset over No. 9 Cedarville 83-70. The team rallied for a 42-17 run over the game's final 14 minutes.

Tiffin's defense ranks second in the conference as they hold their opponents to 64.4 points per game putting them fifth in the conference in margin, scoring 3.8 more points on average. The Dragons are second in the conference in opponent field goal percentage at 39.3 and second in opponent three point defense holding opponents to 30 percent shooting. 

Aarion Nichols and Savanah Richards lead the offense for Tiffin. Nichols ranks amongst the national leaders in points, rebounds, assists, and steals, averaging 14.9 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.8 steals and teammate Richards ranks amongst the national leaders in points and assists and averages 15.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.4 steals. 

Jada Tate also averages in double figures scoring 10.4 points shooting 50.7 percent from the field, 7.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists. 

 

Scouting the Panthers

The Panthers are second in the conference in scoring, averaging 81.4 points, fourth in defense holding opponents to 68.9 points, and first in field goal percentage at 46.6 percent.

Their offense is led by Tahlia Walton who averages 12.6 points shooting 59.5 percent from the field, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.0 steals and teammate Kaylee Clifford who scores 10.9 points shooting 42 percent from beyond the arc, 6.1 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.6 steals. 

The Panthers lead the all-time series against the Dragons 5-1, with the last time these two teams played on Jan. 7 when Ky. Wesleyan won 61-48.

 

Scouting the Trojans

The Trojans are sixth in the conference on defense holding opponents to 74.5 points and fifth in opponent field goal percentage at 42.9 percent.

Trevecca's offense is led by Faith Wilken who averages 14.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 2.0 steals. Keely Carter averages 13.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.2 steals, and Olivia Pepperman scores 11.7 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 2.0 steals. 

The Trojans lead the all-time series against the Dragons 2-1. The Dragons' lone win came last time they faced on Dec. 5, 2019 when the Dragons won 84-77 in overtime.
