The Tiffin University women's basketball team went 1-1 last week against Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican. This week, the Dragons will travel to Ursuline on Wednesday Jan. 27, then head to Vienna, WV to face Ohio Valley on Saturday, Jan 30.

Dragon Details:

The Dragons are 3-1 over their last four games, with wins over Lake Erie twice and Hillsdale. 

Last time out the Dragons fell to Ohio Dominican 83-68, Tiffin shot just 34 percent in the game while the Panthers hit at a 54 percent clip. The difference cost them the most in the middle two quarters, when the Dragons were outscored 49-28.

Tiffin's defense ranks first in the conference as they hold their opponents to 65.46 points per game. The Dragons rank fourth in the conference in opponent field goal percentage at 40.1 percent and third in the conference in three point defense holding opponents to 30.3 percent from beyond the arc. 

Aarion Nichols and Savanah Richards have led the offense for Tiffin. Nichols ranks amongst the national leaders in points, rebounds, assists and steals, averaging 14.6 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals. Teammate Richards ranks amongst the national leaders in points and assists and averages 14.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals. 

Scouting the Arrows

The Arrows went 1-2 last week with a win over Ohio Valley.

The Arrows' offense is led by four players in double figures. Alyssa Evans leads the way scoring 12.1 points per game, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists followed by Rebakah Green who averages 11.3 points shooting 52.7 percent from the field, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. Morgan Mattimore averages 11.1 points shooting 39 percent from the field, with 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists, and teammate Madison Cloonan averages 10.3 points shooting 54 percent from the field, with 7.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists. 

The Dragons lead the all-time series against the Arrows 3-2. The last time they met was Feb. 5, 2020 where the Dragons took an 81-71 win. 

Scouting the Scots

The Scots went 0-3 last week. 

Ohio Valley has five players in double figures. Jordan Fox leads the way scoring 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds followed by Nahia Urturui-Ortiz who averages 12.3 points shooting 41.7 percent from the field, with 5.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steal. Tanner Esposito averages 11.8 points shooting 40.9 percent from beyond the arc, with 2.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.5 steals, Jemma Bennett averages 10.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists, and teammate Marina Garcia scores 10.3 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, 5.25 assists and 3.0 steals.

The Dragons are 4-0 all-time against the Scots. The last meeting was Feb. 22, 2020 when the Dragons won 71-64.
