Three Dragons Hit Double Figures in 70-56 Win Over Hillsdale

The Tiffin University women's basketball team took a 70-56 win over Hillsdale University, with three Dragons hitting double figures. 

The Dragons improve to 6-4 overall and 6-4 in the conference, while the Chargers fall to 1-8 overall and 1-8 in the conference. 

The Dragons' strong defense held Hillsdale to 56 points, 28.6 percent from the field and 9.1 percent from beyond the arc while Tiffin shot 46.6 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from beyond the arc. Tiffin outrebounded the Chargers 47-31. 

Hillsdale scored the first three points of the game, but the Dragons countered with a 9-0 run to lead 9-3. The teams traded points to end the first quarter 16-12. 

Midway through the second quarter Tiffin went on a 6-0 run to lead 28-18, but the Chargers went on a 8-0 run just before the half to come within four, 34-30.

The Dragons found their offensive groove in the third, outscoring Hillsdale 17-9, to lead 51-39 going into the final frame. 

Tiffin was able to hold its double-digit lead in the fourth to take the 70-56 victory over Hillsdale.

Savanah Richards led Tiffin, scoring 26 points while shooting 11-for-19 from the field, grabbing seven rebounds and dishing three assists. Teammate Jada Tate scored 14 points, shooting 6-for-12 from the field along with three rebounds, and Aarion Nichols tallied 13 points and seven rebounds in the win. Jensen Hiegel also had 7 points with 7 rebounds. 

Up next the Dragons will host Lake Erie at the Gillmor Center with the game set to start at 5:30 p.m.
