Lady Dragons Grab 67-56 Victory Over Lake Erie

The Tiffin University women's basketball team went on the road against Lake Erie and grabbed a 67-56 victory, taking advantage of second chance opportunities to put the Storm away.

The Dragons, who outscored the Storm 19-2 in second chance points, improve to 5-4 overall and 5-4 in the conference while the Storm dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-5 in the conference. 

After Lake Erie came out to an early 4-2 lead the Dragons went on a 10-1 run to lead by seven. The Storm chipped away at Tiffin's lead to end the first quarter tied at 14 all.

Tiffin came out in the second quarter and went on a 8-0 run to lead 26-19, allowing them to hold a four point lead heading into the half.

An evenly matched third quarter kept the Dragons in the lead, as each team scored 12 points in the quarter to give TU the lead 46-42.

Lake Erie tied the game at 50-50 in the fourth quarter with 6:59 left in the game, but the Dragons counterattacked with a 9-2 run to lead 59-52. Tiffin ended the game scoring the final six points to give them the 67-56 win. 

Jada Tate led the Dragons scoring 14 points, two assists and three rebounds. 

Aarion Nichols tallied 11 points and a team-high 16 rebounds to record her third double-double this season. With 16 rebounds she tied her career-high, as she last grabbed 16 rebounds on Feb. 22, 2020 against Ohio Valley. 

Tiffin got more balanced scoring up and down the lineup, as Savanah Richards totaled 9 points with 6 rebounds, Kirsten Williams had 9 points and 5 rebounds, Danelle Bradley had 9 points off the bench, and Jasmine Watts also came off the bench to score 7 points with 5 rebounds.

The Dragons held a 44-34 edge in rebounds, including 14-9 on the offensive glass.
