The Tiffin University women's basketball team fell to Kentucky Wesleyan 61-48, as the Panthers sported a 21-0 edge at the free throw line over the Dragons.

The Dragons fall to 4-4 overall and 4-4 in the conference, while the Panthers improve to 4-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

The Panthers went 21-for-34 from the charity stripe, while the Dragons were 0-for-2. The Dragons were also outrebounded 33-26 and could not overcome seven point scoring margins in the second and fourth quarters.

Tiffin jumped out to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter, led by Jada Tate who scored four points during that run. A steal from Shiya Hoosier sparked a 7-0 Panther run to tie the game at 9-9. 

The Panthers outscored the Dragons 5-0 in the first three minutes of the second quarter, KWC bounced back to outscore TU 17-10 in the second quarter to lead 31-23 at halftime.

The Dragons came out in the third quarter and scored four quick points to bring them within two points of the Panthers, 31-29.

The Dragons chipped away at the Panthers' lead and ended the third quarter down, 43-37. The Panthers continued their offensive groove in the fourth to claim the 61-48 victory. 

Jada Tate tied her career-high with 12 points along with eight rebounds. Tate matched her career-high in points, marking the fourth time this season she has hit double-digit points.

Savanah Richards notched 12 points, five assists and two rebounds. Richards tied her season high in assists with five on the night, equaling her mark on Dec. 11 against Findlay.

Aarion Nichols also tallied 10 points, six rebounds and two assists. 

Up next the Dragons will host the University of Findlay on January 14 at the Gillmor Center with the game set to start at 5:30 p.m.
