Ivey Resigns as Head Women's Basketball Coach

Jessie Ivey has stepped down from her position as Head Women's Basketball Coach at Tiffin University, leaving to pursue other career opportunities.

"We appreciate the great job Jessie did at Tiffin University," said Athletic Director Lonny Allen. "We wish her all the best in her future endeavors. She will be missed."

Ivey's teams showed drastic improvement over her two seasons with the Dragons, increasing both the overall and conference win total both years and taking the program in 2019-20 to its first conference tournament berth since 2011-12. That berth was clinched via a historical upset, as the Dragons took down #17 Kentucky Wesleyan in double overtime on Feb. 29 to also give the program its first-ever win over a team ranked in the DII top-25. Similar to 2018-19, Tiffin finished the season very strong, winning six of their final eight regular-season games.

Under Ivey's direction, the Dragons also set numerous school records including points per game, points in a game, total points, made three-pointers, field goal percentage, and total rebounds. Four players also set individual school records over the two seasons. In 2019-20, Aarion Nichols became the first member of the program to earn All-Conference honors since the 2012-13 campaign. Ivey's teams also excelled academically, leading all of Division II in Team GPA in 2018-19 and followed that up with a tied for fourth-place finish in 2019-20.

"I want to thank President Schumacher, Lonny Allen, and Kelly Daniel for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to build such a special program," said Ivey. "I will greatly miss the amazing people that I had the pleasure to work with at Tiffin and the phenomenal student-athletes I was able to coach. The Tiffin women's basketball program will continue to have success for many years to come."
