Dragons Take Overtime Victory Over Battlers

ELKINS, W.Va. - It took overtime, but Tiffin women's basketball was finally able to pull away from Alderson Broaddus to take a 79-72 victory on Thursday night.

Tied at 56 after three quarters, the teams stepped up the defense in the fourth and allowed just 13 points apiece. The Battlers had three shots to win in the final 10 seconds, but could not get any to fall as the game went into extra time tied at 69.

Aarion Nichols opened overtime with a triple, and the Dragons would never trail during the rest of the overtime period as they outscored AB 10-3.

Savanah Richards filled up the stat sheet for TU, leading all scorers with a career-high 25 points along with six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks.

Nichols added 18 points and a career-best eight assists. Jada Tate also narrowly missed a double-double, tallying 11 rebounds and nine points. Brooke Wesner also added 11 points off the bench.

The Dragons outshot the Battlers 43.1% to 41.9% from the field, but it was from beyond the arc where a big difference occurred as TU made eight threes while AB went just 5-26 (19.2%).

Tiffin also came out on top in rebounds (48-44) and assists (22-15). The Dragons grabbed a whopping 24 offensive rebounds on the night, leading to a 20-13 advantage in second-chance points.
