Tiffin Outgunned by Ohio Dominican

TIFFIN, Ohio - After TU took a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter, Ohio Dominican rode hot shooting to an 82-57 win on Saturday afternoon.

The day was still special, however, as Tiffin celebrated its Alumni Day and held a very special recognition of Jacoby Hope Arnold. Both the men and the women applauded the milestones of the life of Jacoby, daughter of TU alumna, former student-athlete, and former women's basketball assistant coach, Jillian Arnold.

Before she was born, Jacoby was diagnosed with non-immune Hydrops Fetalis—a severe, life-threatening condition with odds of only 5% to be born alive, and then only a 5% chance to survive after birth. This year, Jacoby started Kindergarten and Tiffin University is honored to acknowledge the brave little girl who has defied all odds and announced her with the basketball team lineup as well as had her serve as the ball kid of the women's game.

In the game, Ohio Dominican exploded for a 27-8 run in the second quarter to break the game open, maintaining a lead of more than 20 for much of the second half.

A big key to the game was ball possession, as ODU only turned the ball over seven times while Tiffin did so 14 times, resulting in a 15-2 points off turnovers advantage for the Panthers.

Aarion Nichols once again led TU with 16 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Kirsten Williams got the start on the afternoon and recorded a career-best seven rebounds.

Jensen Hiegel also pulled down seven boards and had three assists for the Dragons.

Tiffin will next travel to face Alderson Broaddus on Thursday at 5:15 p.m. The game will be played down the road from AB, though, on the campus of Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, W.Va.
