Dragons Fall at Unbeaten Kentucky Wesleyan

OWENSBORO, Ky. - Tiffin was able to hang with undefeated Kentucky Wesleyan College in the early going on Saturday, but the Panthers would pull away for a 75-53 victory.

After their thrilling overtime win over Trevecca on Thursday, the Dragons finish the opening weekend of conference play at 1-1 in the GMAC and 5-6 overall.

Jada Tate led Tiffin in scoring with 12 points and picked up the first double-double of her young career with 10 rebounds as well, including four on the offensive end.

Danelle Bradley was the other Dragon in double figures on the afternoon, adding 10 points. Aarion Nichols also had six points, five rebounds, and five assists.

After KWC opened the game with a layup, Tiffin took a 4-2 lead on a pair of layups from Jensen Hiegel off great assists from Jasmine Watts and Nichols. The Panthers would take back the lead, but a Kirsten Williams layup still had the Dragons within one, 9-8, with 3:54 left in the first quarter.

Kentucky Wesleyan would close out the quarter strong, however, as a Tate layup in the final seconds cut the Panther lead to 19-12 after one.

KWC would extend their lead before halftime, taking a 36-22 lead into the break. 

The Dragons did not fare much better in the second half, as the Panthers led by as much as 26 late in the fourth quarter before earning the win.

With finals week coming up, Tiffin's GMAC schedule for next week is pushed back two days. The Dragons will host preseason poll favorite Walsh on Saturday before facing Malone the following Monday.
