Dragons Prepare for First Home Games of 2019-20

TIFFIN, Ohio - Tiffin women's basketball will look to bounce back from a slow start last weekend as they have three games this week, starting with their home opener on Tuesday against Mount Vernon Nazarene.

Dragon Details:

Despite playing a pair of very close games over the opening weekend, the Dragons enter this week with two losses after falling to Illinois-Springfield by three in overtime and to McKendree by seven. In the first game against UIS, the Dragons were able to force overtime when Aarion Nichols hit a triple with one second left, but the Prairie Stars pulled away with tight defense in the extra period.

Jasmine Watts is leading Tiffin in scoring through two games, averaging 18.5 points per game, six rebounds per game, and 2.5 blocks per game. Nichols is not too far behind, averaging 16 ppg, 7 rpg, and 4 assists per game.

Danelle Bradley is also in double figures so far, averaging 14 ppg after an 18-point effort against McKendree in which she went 4-5 from the three-point line.

Scouting the Cougars:

Mount Vernon is off to a great start in 2019-20, coming out on top in all six of their games thus far, including a 99-47 win over Carlow in their most recent outing on Nov. 9.

Taylor Gregory has been the star for the Cougars thus far, leading the team at 15.2 ppg, 11.8 rpg, and eight blocks through the first six contests. She is also shooting 57.9% from the field and 50% from deep.

Three other Cougars are averaging double figures in scoring with Maggie Coe (12.3 ppg), Rylee Pireu (11.8 ppg), and Sage Brannon (10.3 ppg, 2 apg).

Scouting the Lakers:

Wright State-Lake won their first game of the season against Clark State CC, but has since lost four in a row.

The Lakers' leading scorer is junior guard Ziona Williams, who enters the week at 11.4 ppg and 1.4 spg. Kenadee Dixon is next with 10.4 ppg and 5 rpg, while Mallory Barnes leads the team in rebounding with 12.2 rpg along with 9.2 ppg.

Scouting the Tigers:

Salem has only played one official game so far this year, running away from Miami University (Hamilton) 118-70. 

A pair of Tigers scored 21 points in the game in Nia Bishop and Nerea Arambarri Fernandez. Three others tallied ten points as Alicia Smith, Inari Jones, and Daniela Quesada-Villalobos rounded out the double-figure scoring.
