Lady Dragons prepare for Storm and Panthers

Tiffin University's women's basketball team (4-9, 2-6 GLIAC) will take on Lake Erie College (5-9, 3-5 GLIAC) at home Thursday, Jan. 12 before hitting the road to take on Ohio Dominican (10-5, 5-3 GLIAC) on Saturday, Jan. 14 in more GLIAC action this week.

Tiffin has dropped five of their last six games, including three in a row. They defeated Ferris State 67-54 but have lost against Ursuline 84-60 and most recently fell to the Wildcats of Northern Michigan 69-53 and the Huskies of Michigan Tech 80-46.

TU is led by Bre Nauman with 8.9 and 5.4 rebounds per game, while Allie Miller is right behind with 8.8 points and 3.9 boards. Kristen Massey has 8.8 points to her average, while Ali Schirmer is at 8.2 points and Deidre McKay is right behind with 7.6 points per contest.

Lake Erie, meanwhile, has won three of their last five after dropping seven straight. In their most recent five games, they have posted wins against Lake Superior State 81-62, Northwood 80-78, and Ferris State 79-63. They have losses to Daemen 73-59 and Grand Valley State 50-45.

The Storm are led by Kayla Gabor with 19.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, while Christine Dawson is also in double digits with 13.6 points and 7.1 rebounds. Josie Chaddock is averaging 7.8 points.

The Storm statistically top TU in every major stat but free throw percentage, with TU hitting 72 percent of their foul shots to Lake Erie's 66 percent. They are outscoring TU 66.1 to 62.2 points and 33.9 rebounds to TU's 30.6. Neither team is shooting particularly well, as Lake Erie is averaging just 39 percent from the floor while TU is at 37 percent.

'For the Panthers, winners of 5 of their last 7 including 3 in a row, Lauren Bates leads the way with 14.1 points and 5.4 rebounds, followed by Madi Rittinger's 11.4 points and 5.6 boards and Darian Rose's 8.5 points per game.

The Panthers are averaging 72.8 points per game and shooting nearly 41 percent from the field. They average 84 percent from the line along with 42.7 rebounds.

They have recently posted wins against Southern Indiana 66-65, Lake Superior State 69-66, and Northwood 72-68 along with yet another narrow 69-68 victory over Wayne State. The Panthers will take on top-ranked Ashland though before hosting the Dragons.
