TU posts road sweep of Panthers

Tiffin University (15-21, 4-6 GMAC) used great pitching and timely hitting to sweep Kentucky Wesleyan on the road 6-2 and 1-0.

In the nightcap, Sarah Klein tossed a 5-hit shutout, fanning 4 over 7 innings. She retired the last 14 batters in a row to preserve the win.

TU got its sole run in the top of the 6th inning when Maddie Woods drilled a leadoff home run, one of two hits in the game for her. Kaylee Savage also had two hits with a double.

In the opener, TU racked up 15 hits, scoring three times in the fourth and sixth innings.

Claire Feldkamp got the win, tossing 7 innings and allowing 2 earned runs.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth inning, Aubrie Harper reached on a fielder's choice. Bailey Hamilton laid down a bunt single and Harper came around to score on a throwing error by the second baseman. Taylor Whalen then singled for another run, then stole second. She then scored on Kirsten Georges's single.

In the sixth, TU added three more runs. Hamilton doubled and came home on Whalen's single. Following a Woods single, Savage doubled to drive home two more runs.

Overall Whalen had 3 hits for 2 RBI, while Savage had 2 hits with a double for 2 RBI. Woods had 2 hits with a triple, while Georges, Maci Head, Katie Deardorff, and Hamilton all had two hits.
