Dragons fall in tough battle with Trojans

Tiffin University (13-21, 2-6 GMAC) hit three home runs in the nightcap against Trevecca Nazarene but it wasn't enough as the Dragons dropped two to the Trojans.

TU opened with an 8-0 loss but came back repeatedly in game two before falling in the bottom of the seventh 8-7.

In game two, with the Dragons trailing 3-0 in the second inning, Kaylee Savage singled before Maddie Legg drilled a two-run home run to make it 3-2, TNU.

In the third trailing 5-2, TU fought back again. Katie Deardorff singled and came home on Maddie Woods's bomb. The Dragons then tied it in the fourth when Maci Head drilled another home run.

In the sixth inning and trailing again 7-5, Bailey Hamilton reached on a bunt single and came home on Deardorff's double. Woods then brought Deardorff home with a single that tied it at 7-7. TU then loaded the bases with two out but a flyout to left field ended it.

TU had another chance in the top of the seventh with a runner on second base but a strikeout ended the threat. TNU got a run in the bottom of the frame to win the game.

Sarah Klein took the loss, allowing 8 earned runs over 6.1 innings.

Woods had 3 hits with a bomb for 3 RBI, while Hamilton also had 3 hits. Taylor Whalen, Savage, and Deardorff had 2 hits each, while Legg and Head had home runs.

In the opener, TU managed just three singles in falling in six innings. TNU smacked 16 hits, scoring four runs in the fourth inning to break the game open.

Claire Feldkamp took the loss over 5 innings, allowing 7 earned runs.
