Dragons fall in twinbill against Florida Tech

Tiffin University (6-9) could not hold leads in both of its games against Florida Tech, falling 11-3 in six innings and 6-3 in the nightcap.

In the opener, with TU trailing 1-0, the Dragons took the lead. Faith Renwick walked and Kirsten Georges and Taylor Whalen followed with singles. Maddie Woods then singled to drive in two runs as TU took a 2-1 lead.

The bottom of the inning was not kind to the Dragons, as Florida Tech scored four runs to go ahead 5-2. 

TU got a run closer in the sixth, as Maddie Legg, Renwick, and Hallie Sheehan all walked. Georges then hit a sacrifice fly to make it 5-3, but FIT tallied six more runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game.

Claire Feldkamp went 4.2 innings to start the game, allowing 3 earned runs. Sarah Klein tossed 0.2 innings and allowed 4 earned runs, while Libby Schaadt finished with 0.1 innings.

The Dragons had five singles in the game, with Woods getting two RBI.

In game two, the Dragons jumped out to a 3-0 lead early and held the lead until the fifth inning.

In the first, Whalen singled and came home on Woods's RBI double. Woods then moved to third on a wild pitch and came home on Maci Head's sac fly.

Maddie Legg drilled a leadoff home run in the top of the second to make it 3-0, TU.

Up 3-1 in the fifth, FIT rallied for four runs to go ahead 5-3. They added another run in the sixth.

TU managed to get the tying run to the plate in the seventh inning with two out, but a grounder to first base ended the threat.

Isabella St. Peter pitched well, tossing 5 innings and allowing no earned runs. Feldkamp also tossed an inning, as the Dragons pitchers allowed only one earned run in game two.

Woods had a double while Legg added a home run. Overall TU had 3 hits and committed 3 errors.
