Tiffin University (23-17) could not duplicate their success from the first day of the GMAC Softball Tournament, dropping two close games to Ohio Dominican and Trevecca Nazarene.

TU fell in the semifinal game 5-3 to the Panthers before being eliminated by the Trojans 10-6.

In the opener, Victoria Edwards took the loss, lasting just one inning and allowing 3 earned runs. Claire Feldkamp relieved and went 6 innings, fanning 5 while keeping TU in it and allowing just 2 earned runs.

Trailing 4-0 in the third inning, Kaylee Savage reached second after an error by the shortstop. Faith Renwick then singled her home and was then sacrificed to second. Maddie Woods then singled, with Renwick scoring on a subsequent error by the shortstop.

The Dragons made it a 4-3 deficit in the fifth inning. Kirsten Georges singled and moved to second on a fielder's choice. Taylor Whalen then drove her home with an RBI single.

TU had chances over the last two innings to go ahead. In the sixth down 4-3, Laura Teunion-Smith doubled and was sacrificed to third with just one out but two consecutive strikeouts ended the threat.

After the Panthers picked up a run the top of the 7th to go ahead 5-3, the Dragons again threatened. With two runners on and just one out, a strikeout and lineout to short ended the game.

Georges and Woods led the team with 2 hits each.

Against the Trojans, the Dragons jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Woods doubled, Brooke Lambert walked, and Teunion-Smith was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Whalen then stroked a double for 2 RBI. Heidi Marshall then laid down a sacrifice bunt to push another run across.

TU gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the first, however, but the Dragons responded in the top of the second. Renwick singled, and Woods blasted a two-run home run to put TU back up 5-4.

TU picked up an insurance run in the sixth inning. Savage doubled and came home after a fly out to center field led to a throwing error by the center fielder. TU needed just six more outs to advance to the GMAC Championship game and a rematch with the Panthers, but it was not to be as they gave up 6 runs in the bottom of the 6th and could not come back.

Edwards again took the loss, pitching 5 innings and allowing 6 earned runs.

Woods had another strong game with 3 hits including a home run for 2 RBI. Savage had 2 hits with a double, and Whalen had 2 RBI with a double.
