It was a good day to be a Dragon.

Tiffin (23-15) defeated Findlay 4-2 before staging a stunning seventh-inning comeback against Cedarville to win 2-1 and advance to the GMAC Semifinals on day one of the GMAC Softball Championships.

In the opener, Victoria Edwards was in control on the mound, going the distance and allowing just 4 hits and 2 earned runs.

TU took a 3-0 lead to open the game. In the first inning, Kirsten Georges got to third after an error by the right fielder, and then scored on Taylor Whalen's fielder's choice. Whalen then scored on another error in right field on a ball hit by Laura Teunion-Smith.

TU got another run in the second when Heidi Marshall singled and moved to third on Faith Renwick's single. A double steal then got Marshall across the plate to make it 3-0, Dragons.

After Findlay got a pair of runs in the top of the fifth inning, TU got a big insurance run in the bottom of the inning. Whalen singled and then scored on Brooke Lambert's double, the only extra base hit in the game for TU.

Edwards then shut down the Oilers the rest of the way, allowing just one single.

The next game was even more of a pitcher's duel. Claire Feldkamp took the mound for TU and went 5.2 innings, allowing just 4 hits and one earned run while fanning 6. The earned run came via a home run, however, as TU trailed 1-0 heading to the last two innings.

In the bottom of the 6th inning, TU got their first serious shot of the game, putting runners on second and third with nobody out. The Dragons were unable to score, however, and headed to the bottom of the 7th still trailing by one.

Down to their final at-bats, Kaylee Savage was hit by a pitch. Skylar Legg and Bailey Hamilton then both walked to load the bases with nobody out. A fielder's choice back to the pitcher resulted in a wild throw home as they tried to preserve the lead, and when the ball got away from the catcher, the winning run crossed the plate as the Dragons stole the victory.

Edwards got the win in relief, tossing 1.1 innings of no-hit ball with 4 strikeouts.

The Dragons will now take on Ohio Dominican at 12:30 pm May 7 needing one win to reach the championship game on Saturday, May 8.
