Dragons sweep Falcons for 6th straight win

Tiffin University (20-14) won for the sixth straight time, sweeping Notre Dame 8-0 and 5-3 in their home spring finale.

The Dragons won the opener in 5 innings and got a strong outing from Isabella St. Peter, who tossed 4 innings and allowed just 3 hits. Sarah Klein finished up with an inning of scoreless relief.

The Dragons' offense backed up St. Peter with 12 hits, including 2 hits with a triple for 3 RBI from Maddie Woods. Taylor Whalen and Kaylee Savage also had 2 hits, while Brooke Lambert added a double.

The Dragons got on the board in the first inning. Kirsten Georges singled and with two out, Laura Teunion-Smith singled. An error by the left fielder allowed the run to score. Whalen then singled and stole second, coming home on Heidi Marshall's single. Savage then singled her home to give TU a 3-0 lead.

The Dragons got another run in the second. Bailey Hamilton singled and stole second, and then came home on Woods's single.

In the fourth inning, Savage singled and was sacrificed to second. Skylar Legg then walked. Woods then cleared the bases with a triple, and subsequently scored herself when Lambert followed with a double.

TU finished the game off in the bottom of the fifth inning. After Whalen singled and was sacrificed to second, Faith Renwick singled with two out to drive Whalen home and end the game.

In the nightcap, TU got more solid pitching and timely hitting while showing their depth, as they played numerous players from their bench in preparation of the upcoming GMAC tourney.

Libby Schaadt got the start and the win, tossing 4 innings and allowing one earned run on 4 hits. Shelbey Spurlock tossed the final three innings for the save, allowing just one hit and no earned runs.

TU got on the board in the second inning. With two out, Kennedy Rorar walked. Jaelen Kelly then singled and stole second, followed by Mallory Phares walk to load the bases. Hamilton and Hallie Sheehan both drew bases-loaded walks to give TU a 2-0 lead.

In the third, Caitlin Wilson walked and stole second. With two outs, Rorar singled for an RBI, then stole second. Kelly walked, with both runners then moving up on a wild pitch. An error at shortstop allowed another run to cross the plate.

Finally in the fifth, Rorar reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second. Kelly singled her home for TU's fifth run.
