Dragons sweep Panthers in GMAC twinbill

Tiffin University (12-12, 6-4 GMAC) used solid pitching and timely hitting to sweep Kentucky Wesleyan 7-0 and 11-2 in 5 innings.

In the opener, Claire Feldkamp went the distance, allowing just 3 hits with 4 strikeouts over 7 innings. She did not allow a hit until the 6th inning, while TU was also aided by 5 KWC errors.

TU got on the board in the 2nd inning when Laura Teunion-Smith walked, stole second, was sacrificed to third, and came home on an error at second base on Taylor Whalen's ground ball. Hallie Sheehan then tripled to drive in another run, and scored herself on Kaylee Savage's double.

In the 4th inning, Whalen reached on an error and stole second. Sheehan then singled, moving Whalen to third. Savage lifted a sacrifice fly to bring Whalen home, and Sheehan then scored on Bailey Hamilton's fielder's choice as TU went ahead 5-0.

TU got another run in the 5th as Teunion-Smith was hit by a pitch, stole second and scored on Whalen's single.

TU got its final run in the 6th. Savage walked, and pinchrunner Caitlin Wilson stole second. After being sacrificed to third, Kirsten Georges singled her home.

In game two, Libby Schaadt started and got the win, allowing 2 hits and fanning 3 over 3 innings of work. 

TU gave her the lead in the first inning when Maddie Woods walked, stole second, was sacrificed to third, and scored on Brooke Lambert's sacrifice fly.

The score remained 1-0 into the 4th inning when TU erupted for 10 runs, all with two out.

Teunion-Smith singled and Whalen was hit by a pitch. Wilson then tripled for 2 RBI and came home on Savage's single. Hamilton walked and then scored on Woods's triple for two more RBIs. Georges then got an RBI single, while Lambert reached safely on a fielder's choice and Teunion-Smith loaded the bases after an error at shortstop. Sheehan then crushed the next pitch for a grand slam to cap the scoring.

Victoria Edwards relieved Schaadt and tossed 2 innings of relief for the save. She allowed 5 hits and 2 earned runs with 3 strikeouts.

Overall Sheehan had 2 hits with a grand slame for 4 RBIs, while Woods and Wilson had triples and 2 RBIs each.
