A six-run sixth inning hurt the Dragons in their opening game at Hillsdale, as TU dropped two on the road.

Tiffin (9-11, 4-4 GMAC) fell in the opener 16-9 before losing the nightcap 6-1. The teams traded leads back and forth throughout the first game as both offenses came to life.

Tiffin was on the board first with two runs in the opening frame. With two outs, Brooke Lambert doubled and came home on Laura Teunion-Smith's double. Teunion-Smith then scored on Heidi Marshall's subsequent single.

TU pushed their lead to 4-0 in the third. Lambert doubled, and Marshall reached on an error in left field. An error at third on a ball hit by Taylor Whalen let two runs come in.

With the game tied 4-4, Maddie Woods reached on an error in center field. Kirsten Georges then doubled to drive in a run and give TU the lead at 5-4. An error at shortstop then let Georges come around and score as TU took a 6-4 lead.

Hillsdale responded with three runs to go ahead 7-6, but the Dragons again responded. Marshall and Whalen both singled and were sacrificed to second and third. With two outs, Hallie Sheehan doubled to drive both runs in. Woods also doubled for another RBI as TU went ahead 9-6.

Errors hurt the Dragons throughout the day, as TU allowed six unearned runs. Three runs in the bottom of the fifth tied the game 9-9, and six more runs in the bottom of the sixth proved too much for the Dragons to overcome.

Five different pitchers worked for TU, with Isabella St. Peter taking the loss with one inning of relief. Victoria Edwards started and went 2.2 innings, allowing 5 earned runs. Sarah Klein worked 1.1 innings for 2 earned runs, while Shelbey Spurlock and Libby Schaadt also pitched in relief.

TU had 12 hits, with Lambert getting two doubles. Georges had 2 hits with a double, while Marshall and Whalen also had 2 hits. Sheehan had 2 RBI with a double, while Woods and Teunion-Smith also had doubles.

In game two, TU's offense could get nothing going, mustering just four hits. Georges had two of those hits, while Teunion-Smith added a double.

Claire Feldkamp went the distance, allowing a first inning run but nothing else until the sixth inning. The Chargers tacked on five runs in the sixth to boost their lead to 6-0.

Feldkamp went 6 innings, allowing 6 earned runs and 11 hits.

TU got its lone run in the 7th inning. Teunion-Smith doubled, moved to third on a groundout to short, and then scored on an error at third base.
