Interview with Coach Nickerson

Tiffin University was picked third in the GMAC preseason coaches poll, as the Dragons prepare for the upcoming 2020 softball season. The Dragons are coming off a season in which they finished 30-17 overall, 18-8 in GMAC play. It was a strong season overall, as Tiffin finished second in the GMAC in ERA with a 3.03 mark and fifth in batting (.304). They also led the conference in walks with 125 and were second in on-base percentage (.372). Their 217 strikeouts as a pitching staff was also third overall.

Coach Nickerson had a few things to say about the team before they kick off their season: "Our promising returners include Brooke Lambert at shortstop, Hayley Kobie at DP, Gabby Hess at 1B, Chloe Swaisgood at 2B, and pitchers Victoria Edwards and Sarah Klein. We are hoping to build off our 30-17 record last year and continue to climb to the top of the GMAC."

Fans can expect to see a few new faces on the field this year as well. "We have several freshmen that will contribute this season with many of them playing key roles on offense and in the pitcher's circle for us. If they all can get healthy in time they will be a great asset to our team's success. Our goals for this season are as always to be NCAA National Champions, GMAC regular-season and tournament champions, and have a team GPA above 3.6," said Nickerson.

The Dragons kick off their season against Rockhurst on Saturday, Feb. 15 in Owensboro, Ky. For their full game schedule and more information, click here.
