Dragons  get split at Hillsdale

Tiffin University (13-12, 1-1 GLIAC) suffered from poor defense in its GLIAC opener but bounced back to pull out the nightcap at Hillsdale. They fell 4-2 in game one before winning game two 3-2.

In the TU win, four Dragons pitchers saw action. Savannah Chalfant started, tossing 2 innings and allowing 1 earned run. April Bennett then tossed 2 scoreless innings, while Tiffany Snell came in and allowed another earned run in 0.1 innings. Kimmy Reynolds tossed the final 2.2 innings, getting the win as the Dragons pulled it out with a run in the 6th inning. Reynolds allowed just one hit in her effort.

TU opened scoring in the 1st inning. Jamie Sevenish had a bunt single. After advancing to second, Michelle Poe singled to drive in the first run.

In the third with the score tied 1-1, Gabrielle Hess singled and was sacrificed to second. Sevenish then responded with an RBI single to put TU up 2-1.

In the sixth with the game tied 2-2, Kate-Lynn Urgo singled and was sacrificed to second. An error at first base on Samantha Ringwalt's grounder allowed Urgo to score and put TU up 3-2.

In the 7th, Hillsdale laced a triple with one out, giving them two shots to score. Reynolds proved up to the task, getting a foul out to the catcher and a grounder to second to end it.

TU had 6 singles, with Urgo getting 2 and Sevenish getting 2 with an RBi.

In the opener, TU allowed 3 unearned runs that cost them the game. In the first, Libby Crow had a bunt single and was sacrificed to second. An error at second base on Poe's grounder gave TU their first run of the game.

TU added to their lead in the third. Crow had another single and was moved to second on a sacrifice. Poe then singled to drive her home.

After Hillsdale tallied 3 unearned runs in the 3rd inning to go up 4-2, the Dragons were forced to try and come back. They had their only real chance in the 6th inning. Sevenish singled and moved to second on a wild pitch but Brooke Lambert's pop out to center field left her at third.

Reynolds took the opening loss, allowing just one earned run over 4 innings on 7 hits. Chalfant pitched 2 innings and allowed just one hit.

TU again had just 6 singles. Crow had 2 while Poe had an RBI.
