Dragons win fourth in a row

Tiffin University (5-8) won its fourth in a row and fifth in six games, beating St. Rose 4-1 and crushing the University of Mary 11-0 in 5 innings.

Against St. Rose, TU got all their runs in the opening frame.Kate-Lynn Urgo and Libby Crow opened with bunt singles and, after moving up on Jamie Sevenish's groundout, Urgo came home on Michelle Poe's fielder's choice. A two-base error by the St. Rose pitcher allowed Crow to score.

Alayna Lytle  then followed that up with an RBI single.Allyson Rock then successfully stole home on a double steal attempt to cap TU's scoring in the game.

St. Rose responded with a run in the third inning, taking advantage of a Dragons error with two outs to let a run in. But that was all they could manage off of Kimmy Reynolds, who went the distance over 7 innings and allowed 6 hits with 5 strikeouts and no earned runs.

Against Mary, the Dragons broke out the big bats and took advantage of numerous scoring opportunities.

Crow got TU on the board with a solo home run in the opening inning. In the second, after Samantha Ringwalt reached on an error at third, Lytle moved her over to second on a sacrifice.Sierra Besser-Paul then drove her in with a single.

TU added three more runs in the third inning. Crow reached on a single, with Sevenish moving her over on a sacrifice. An error at third on Poe's grounder allowed Crow to score, and Ringwalt followed that with a two-run bomb to put TU ahead 5-0.

TU crossed the plate 6 times in the fourth to put the game away for good. A Lambert walk, Urgo reaching on an error, and Sevenish single loaded the bases and set the table for TU. Poe then drove in two runs with a single.

After Ringwalt walked, Lytle was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for another run. Lindsay Graves then walked to bring in another run. Finally, Brooke Lambert singled in two more runs to cap the scoring.

Tiffany Snell tossed the 5 inning shutout, allowing just 4 hits with 4 strikeouts.

Sevenish finished with 3 hits, while Lambert had 2 hits for 2 RBI. Crow had 2 hits with a home run and RBI, while Ringwalt delivered a home run and 2 RBI. Poe also finished with 2 RBI.
