Former NCAA DII Track & Field All-American and Tiffin Alum Omar Lane enters his third season with the Tiffin University track and field staff in 2023-24.

Lane coached a number of standout performances in 2022-23, with 11 NCAA National Qualifying performances resulting in 10 All-American achievements.

Lane coached two TU athletes in 2022 that qualified for NCAA National Championship competition, with Malachi Adams taking second in the indoor 60 meters and Rajiah Andrews placing 13th in the indoor 60 meters.

Lane comes to Tiffin from Davis and Elkins College where he spent the past three seasons. The Davis and Elkins sprint and jumps group pushed the program to new heights in 2020-21. D&E recorded a program-best 10 USTFCCCA honors, while Nokia Masengu and Samantha Kirk notched conference titles in their running events (200m Dash & 400m Hurdles). Masengu was named the MEC Freshman of the Year after a strong year in the sprints.

Additionally, Lane guided Dymere Jones, Ben Banda, Dalton Irvine, and the 4x400 relay team to All-MEC recognition.

Lane helped continue pushing the D&E track & field program in 2019-20 despite a shortened campaign. D&E posted several school records during the indoor season on both the men's and women's sides, while the program competed in the inaugural MEC Indoor Track Championships from February 21-22 in Huntington.

Daniel Jarrell and Dalton Irvine were two that continued to show improvement as sprinters, which is the group Lane is primarily responsible for. Irvine set an indoor school record in the 60H (8.16), while the 4x400 relay set a new indoor school mark at the league's indoor track championships in 3:25.92. For the women, Roxine Chambers raced her way to a victory in the women’s 400m Dash at the MEC conference championships, later joining the 4x400 relay team on their way to a new school record and MEC conference championship 1st place finish in 3:54.76.

Between the 2018-2019 indoor and outdoor track & field seasons, Lane mentored Samantha Kirk to run the provisional mark in the 400m hurdles and GMAC conference championship and conference record at 61.13.

Lane spent one season as a volunteer assistant coach at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee. While at Tusculum, Lane guided five runners to qualify for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships and mentored freshman Widchard Guervil to first-team All-American status in the 100-meter dash and 60-meter dash events.

Prior to Tusculum, Lane spent two seasons as a graduate assistant track & field coach at Division I University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD. While with the Coyotes, Lane was responsible for video analysis, strength and conditioning, and recruiting.

Omar Lane ran his way to a decorated career at Tiffin University, where Lane was a two-time NCAA Qualifier in the 4x100m relay, earning first-team All-American honors in 2015. Lane was also a two-time GLIAC Champion, winning the 100m and 200m dash titles in 2014. While at Tiffin, Lane also was head track & field coach at Faith and Dreams Academy in Columbus, Ohio from 2011 to 2014.

Lane earned his bachelor's degree in sports and recreation management from Tiffin University in 2015, and his master's degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of South Dakota in 2017.
