Tiffin Opens Indoor Season at Findlay and YSU Meets

The Tiffin University men's track and field team found some early success after competing at both the Oiler Open and Youngstown State Icebreaker this past weekend.

Oiler Open Results

The Dragons finished with high marks in the long distance events including a first-place finish for Lewis Cotterill in the 800-meter with a time of 1:56.50. He was followed by Ivan Starkweather (2:07.99) in fifth place.

Nathaniel Ondracek led the way in the mile, posting an NCAA Division II Provisional with a time of 4:12.75. Dalton Gleeson (4:20.62) and Jaden Wimbush (4:25.03) followed in third and fourth places respectively.

Camron Ventura finished on the podium in third place for the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.50 while Davis Reinhard ended eighth with 8.91.

In the high jump, Garrett Hoepf ended in a tie for second place with a mark of 1.98m. He was just 0.05 meters off the first-place finisher. Derryck Dailey also performed well, finishing in a tie for fourth with a mark of 1.93m.

Cade Carter placed fifth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.67m while Elijah Miller finished .02 meters off of second-place in the long jump with a mark of 6.98m. He was followed by Masakala Amuri in fifth place with a mark of 6.75m.

Terrance Wilson placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 13.71m followed closely by Amuri in fourth with 13.63m.

Setting an NCAA Division II Provisional in the weight throw was Vincent Volpe at 18.36m. He finished third overall.

YSU Icebreaker Results

Dylan Randall made a splash at the YSU Icebreaker, earning a silver medal in the 60-meter dash with an NCAA Divison II Provisional time of 6.73 seconds. He also placed fifth overall in the 200-meter with a time of 21.87 seconds.

Following closely behind was Josiah Gadson in sixth place with a time of 22.00 seconds. The top finisher for the Dragons in the 400-meter was Michael McNeil in 15th place with a time of 49.61.

Gadson performed well in the 60-meter hurdles as well, recording an NCAA DII Provisional mark of 8.09 seconds in preliminaries, good for fourth place. However, he was unfortunately disqualified in the finals.

Tiffin now looks forward to the first Tiffin Open this coming weekend on Friday, December 8th.
