Ray Robinson has been named Head Throws coach at the University of Iowa.

Robinson recently completed his 10th year with the Dragons' track and field team in 2020-21, serving as the Associate Head Coach and Throws Coach.

Robinson has coached 44 First Team All-Americans in the throwing events, including five Individual National Champions and seven Individual Runner-up finishes. All twelve Tiffin throwing records have been broken during his tenure. Robinson was named the 2017 and 2019 USTFCCCA DII Indoor National Assistant Coach of the Year.

Robinson had the privilege of coaching three-time NCAA DII National Champion Coy Blair at the 2016 U.S. Olympic trials as well as at the 2017 World University Games in Taipei, Taiwan. Robinson has coached an athlete at the USATF National Championships in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 (Indoor).

"I am grateful to Tiffin University and the Tiffin community," said Robinson. "I and my family will always consider this home. It holds a special place in my heart, and we will continue our relationship with TU in whatever way we can moving forward. I am especially grateful to all the athletes I have worked with over the years who put in all the hard work and excelled."

"I especially want to thank Coach Croy for hiring me when I had no prior experience as a coach and giving me the chance to thrive. (Iowa Head Coach) Joey Woody and the other coaches at Iowa remind me a lot of Coach Croy in the way they emphasize family and a great working environment. Everything at Iowa perfectly matched up with what we were looking for. It is a tremendous opportunity for me and my family. It had to be perfect for me to consider leaving Tiffin University."

"Coach Robinson was a dedicated athlete and a raw young coach when Coach Adriane Blewitt recommended hiring him back in 2010," said Head Coach Jeremy Croy. "He rapidly became one of the top coaches in the conference, then Division II, and then finally in the NCAA. Ray does all of his duties with professionalism, paying attention to details and always keeping the best interests of Tiffin University in mind. An alum of the university and now our coaching staff, I'm certain we will see him in the future but he will be missed in the meantime. I wish him much success."
