Nik Curtis was named GMAC field athlete of the week for his performance in the Reggie Thomas Classic.

Even though they are not easy, Curtiss in the throws cage makes automatic qualifying marks look that way with his sustained excellence in the shot put.
 
Curtiss booked another auto distance at 18.86m (61' 10.5") to win the event. Both he and teammate Ralph Casper have auto marks in the shot put, also doing so together at the Yellow Jacket Outdoor Invite in late March.
 
They did it again at the Reggie Thomas Classic, hosted by Tiffin, to earn first and second, respectively.
 
Curtiss was the national runner-up in shot put at the indoor championships and has competed in shot put three different times this spring.
