Nikolas Curtiss was named GMAC Field Athlete of the Week for his performance in the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Invitational.

Curtiss was also making his outdoor debut after landing NCAA Championship runner-up honors in the shot put in Birmingham, Ala.
 
Both Curtiss and teammate, indoor national champion Ralph Casper, auto qualified in the outdoor shot put at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Invitational hosted by Cedarville.
 
They are two of the three auto qualifiers so far in Division II this spring.
 
Curtiss won the event with a distance of 19.78m (64' 10.75") on his fifth and final attempt. That distance ranks fifth all-time in conference history.
