Dragons track squad excels at home meet

The Tiffin Men's Track & Field squad returned to action today for a home meet at the Heminger Center. 

John Casper led the way taking first in the weight throw with a throw of 18.07 meters. Jacob Goudy placed first in the high jump with a mark of 1.90 meters. Collin Jasin took first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.55 meters. Lamont Wright posted a first place finish in the 200 meter race with a time of 22.36. 

Field Events

  • Nine Dragons competed in the weight throw, with three finishing in the top five. John Casper led the way taking first place with a throw of 18.07 meters (an NCAA provisional mark), Benedict Draghi placed second with a throw of 17.87 meters (an NCAA provisional mark) and Jacob McPherson rounded out the top three with a throw of 17.15 meters. 
  • Casper Ralph placed second in the men's shot put with a mark of 18.28 meters (an NCAA provisional mark) along with teammate Benedict Draghi who took third place with a mark of 16.77 meters (an NCAA provisional mark).
  • Donavin Robinson came in second for Tiffin in the long jump with a leap of 6.70 meters. 
  • Tiffin fared well in the high jump taking three of the top five spots. Jacob Goudy led the way with a jump of 1.90 meters, Joseph Holida placed third with a leap of 1.90 meters and Steele Butzin finished fourth with a jump of 1.75 meters.
  • In the Pole Vault Collin Jasin took first with a mark of 4.55 meters and teammate Cade Carter took third with a vault of 4.40 meters. 

Distance Races

  • Eleven Dragons competed in the one mile run with one finishing in the top five. Nathaniel Ondracek finished fourth with a time of 4:29.68.
  • David Nguyen placed fifth in the 800 meter race posting a time of 2:08.54.
  • Tiffin placed fourth in the 4 x 400 meter distance relay with a time of 3:39.22.

Sprint Races

  • Three Dragons came in the top five of the 60 meter hurdles. Nathaneal Wilson took second with a time of 8.2 (an NCAA provisional mark), Thomas Zorplaced fourth with a time of 8.38 and Lonnell Ward finished fifth with a time of 8.63.
  • Lamont Wright placed second in the 60 meter dash with a time of 6.93 and Brentt Ballard finished fourth with a time of 7.01. 
  • Two Dragons finished in the top five of the 400 meter race as Logan Betts-Baldwinfinished in second with a time of 54.11 and teammate Kelan Mayberry grabbed fourth with a time of 54.95. 
  • Lamont Wright posted a first place finish in the 200 meter race with a time of 22.36. 

Up Next the Dragons head to Saginaw, Michigan on January 29th for a meet.
