Tiffin Men's Indoor TF Receives 13 All-Region Nods

NEW ORLEANS - The USTFCCCA announced the Division II Men's Indoor Track & Field All-Region teams on Monday, with 11 Dragons earning 13 honors in the Midwest Region.

All-Region awards go to the athletes with the top five marks in each event in each of Division II's eight regions.

In alphabetical order, the All-Region performers are Isaiah Allen (shot put), Jonte Baker (60m), Jabari Bennett (shot put), Cameron Burrows (heptathlon, long jump, high jump), Nikolas Curtiss (shot put), Eric Jackson (shot put), Collin Jasin (pole vault), Joshua Page (400m), Quincy Scott (long jump), Lenell Shelby III (60m hurdles), and Errik Snell (60m hurdles).

Baker, Burrows (high jump), Curtiss, and Scott each also received Top Regional Performer recognition.

Baker is currently first in the region and tops in all of DII in the 60m with a 6.64-second performance back on Feb. 14 at the USA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The senior will be going for his fourth national title in a couple of weeks after winning the indoor 60m, outdoor 100m, and outdoor 4x100m relay a year ago.

Page is fourth regionally and 18th in the nation in the 400m with a top time of 47.82 seconds a few days ago at the GMAC Indoor Championships. 

In the 60m hurdles, Snell ranks second in the region and 14th in the country with a top time of 8.02 seconds that he has hit twice this season, first at the Tiffin Alumni Open on Dec. 14 and again a couple of days ago at the GMAC Indoor Championships. Shelby III's top hurdles time is 8.10 seconds, third in the region and 20th in Division II.

Burrows is on top of the region and tied for the national lead in the high jump with a mark of 2.19 meters that he set in the first meet of the year on Dec. 6 at the Boo Rogers Combined Events. The senior is also second in the region and seventh in the country in the long jump with the PR he set at the GMAC Indoor Championships of 7.51 meters, as well as second regionally and tied for seventh nationally in the heptathlon with a score of 5381 points from the season-opening meet.

After a PR of 5.00 meters in the pole vault at last weekend's GMAC Indoor Championships, Jasin now sits third regionally and tied for 14th nationally in the event.

Scott leads the region and is fifth in the nation in the long jump with a top distance of 7.62 meters.

Tiffin dominates the regional and national shot put rankings, with four of the top five Midwest Region performers that are also all in the top 13 in Division II. Curtiss leads the way with a mark of 19.40 meters from the Dragon Grand Prix on Feb. 8 that is first regionally and second nationally, while Bennett is second in the region and third in the nation with a top throw of 19.21 meters from last weekend's GMAC Indoor Championships. Jackson slots in third in the region and eighth in the country with a top heave of 17.97 meters from the Tiffin Alumni Open, followed by Allen's 17.49-meter toss at the Dragon Grand Prix that is fifth regionally and 13th in DII.

The official qualifying lists for the 2020 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala. on March 13-14 will be announced by the NCAA later today.
