Dragons in 2nd after Day One of NCAA Track Championships

Tiffin University's men sat in 2nd place after Day One of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships  in Bradenton, Florida.

Ashland led the field after a strong showing in the hammer throw, getting all 22 of their points in the event. TU was next with 16, while Grand Valley State was 3rd with 12.

TU got all 16 points in two events. James Ngandu finished 2nd in the 10,000 meters with a time of 29:16.12, shattering his own school record time.

Marquise Corbett didn't break his TU record but still took 2nd overall with a leap of 25-4 (7.72 m) in the long jump.

Dylan Cornwell placed 17th in the pole vault with 4.81 meters in other men's finals action.

In two preliminary events, the men's 4x100 relay team of Shaquille Hildreth, Jonte Baker, Michael King, and Reginald Thomas obliterated the school record with a time of 40.10, taking 2nd overall. Thomas also finished 5th in the 100 meter prelims with 10.33.

In women's action, Miranda Mondozzi placed 11th overall in the hammer throw with 184-9.
