TU Men 2nd, Women 4th at GLIAC Outdoor Championships

Tiffin University's men's outdoor track and field team battled and had a number of champion performances but came up just short at the GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Ashland won the event with 175 points while the Dragons were right behind with 162, as TU finished 2nd of 13 teams.

On the women's side, TU had a strong final day, jumping from 10th to 4th overall out of 13 teams. Grand Valley State won with 185.5 points, followed by Findlay with 87, Hillsdale wiith 83, and Tiffin with 74.

Tiffin had four major award winners announced after the championship wrapped up. James Ngandu was named Track Athlete of the Meet and Track Athlete of the Year following his sensational season. He won another title on Day 3, as he took home the 5000 meter title in 14:31.22.

Cameron Burrows was named the Freshman Field Athlete of the Year after finishing 2nd in the high jump and 3rd in the long jump.

Coy Blair was named Track Field Athlete of the Year after winning another shot put title, shattering the school record with an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 65-3.25 (19.9 meters).

TU's men had two more champions, as Reginald Thomas won the 100 in 10.33 and Dylan Cornwell edged out teammate Davis Bowers in the pole vault with a clearance of 16-5.5 (5.02 meters). Bowers was 2nd with 4.87. All three marks were provisional marks.

TU got second place finishes from Mackenzi Rickman (110 hurdles in provisional 14.37), Kevin Roberts (triple jump in provisional 48-8), and the 4x400 relay team in 3:14.35.

Other top finishers for TU included Michael King (3rd in 400 in 48.19), Shaquille Hildreth (3rd in 200 in provisional 21.33, 5th in 100), Jalon Monigan (3rd in triple jump in provisional 14.63), Chance Abbitt (4th in 400), Errik Snell (5th in 110 hurdles), Ethan Brakefield (6th in 400 hurdles), Ryan Donnahoe (6th in shot put with provisional 16.8), Kerwin Jackson (7th in 400 hurdles), Nico Hudson (8th in 800), and Eric Jackson (8th in shot put).

For the women, the long day three champion came in the 4x100 relay, where they hit a provisional mark of 46.67.

Mary Boyden landed another provisional mark in the shot put with a 3rd place finish with 48-1.

Alexya Peoples was 4th in the 200 in 24.81 while also taking 8th in the 100. Dalaney Rogala and Carlee Marshall also tied for 4th in the high jump with 5-2.75.

Other top finishers included Adaysha Parker (5th in 400), Kristen Massey (5th in 100), Miaisha Blair (6th in triple jump), the 4x400 relay team (6th), and Emma Gielink (8th in 100 hurdles and triple jump).
