Dragons dominate Montevallo Classic

Tiffin University's men's and women's track and field programs dominated the field at the Montevallo Classic in Montevallo, Alabama.

The men's squad was 1st in the 18 team field, totaling 172 points while Calvin College was a distant second with 78 points. On the women's side, TU won with 95.5 points, while Jacksonville State was second with 63.5 points.

Tiffin's men won five events, with the shot put squad completely dominating the field by taking five of the top six spots. Coy Blair hit an NCAA automatic qualifying mark with a throw of 61-7.75 to win, followed by Davion Bowers with a 3rd place provisional throw of 53-7. Zane Lawrence also hit a provisional mark with a 4th place throw of 52-8. Eric Johnson (5th) and Ryan Donnahoe (6th) rounded out the field for TU.

Marquise Corbett won the long jump with a provisional leap of 24-9, while Davis Bowers and Dylan Cornwell tied for the top spot in the pole vault with provisional clearances of 16-4.75.

Lawrence also won the hammer throw with a toss of 137-11, while Kerwin Jackson took first in the 400 hurdles in 55.89. TU took the top four spots in the 400 hurdles, with Ethan Brakefield coming second (56.05), while Adam Lett took 3rd and Mackenzi Rickman was 4th. 

Rickman also took second in the 100 hurdles in 14.78, while Nico Hudson was second in the 800 in 1:56.41. Tiffin's 4x100 relay team also was second in 41.5.

Other top finishers for TU included Duane Boyd (3rd in 100 in 10.96), Errik Snell (3rd in 100 hurdles in 15.26), Cameron Burrows (4th in long jump), and Chance Abbitt (4th in 400).

On the women's side, Adaysha Parker won the 400 meters in 56.96 and Maria Stoddard was the pole vault champ with a 10-6 mark. The 4x100 relay team also won in 47.44.

Other top finishers included Emma Gielink (2nd in 100 hurdles in 15.27), Miaisha Blair (3rd in long jump with 18-0.5), and Kristen Massey (3rd in 100 in 12.33).
