Tiffin opens track season with Alumni Open

Defending NCAA National Indoor Track and Field Champion Tiffin University opened its 2016-17 track and field season with the Tiffin Alumni Open. The unscored meet featured five event winners on the men's side and 12 more second place finishes between both the men's and women's squads.

Tiffin University dominated the shot put, with All-American Coy Blair winning the event with a put of 18.45 meters. Ryan Donnahoe was second with 10.82 meters while Davion Bowers finished 3rd.

TU also had a strong showing in the pole vault, with Dylan Cornwell winning with a vault of 4.96 meters. Coach Keith Reiter took second, while Davis Bowers was third.

TU went 1-2 in the triple jump as well, with Kevin Roberts leaping 14.69 meters, followed by Jalon Monigan with 14.53 meters.

TU won two running events, with Michael King winning the 300 meters in 35.39, with Reginald Thomas right behind in 35.88 and Shaquille Hildreth taking 3rd. In the 500, Chance Abbitt was 1st in 1:07.10 while Macerio Clark was 2nd in 1:07.14.

Other 2nd place finishers included Nico Hudson (mile in 4:41.23) and Cameron Burrows (high jump with 2.06). Taking 3rd was Mackenzi Rickman in the 60 hurdles, Adam Lett in the 800, Terson Modeste in the high jump, and Tiffin's B 4x400 squad.

For the women, Carlee Marshall came in 2nd in the long jump with 5.45 meters while she also took 3rd in the high jump. Emma Gielink also placed in two events, taking 2nd in the triple jump with 10.89 meters while also finishing 3rd in the 60 hurdles.

Other 2nd place marks came from Kaitlyn Mathews in the mile in 5:54.14, Alexis Cloud in the pentathlon with 3127 points, Monica Carson in the shot put with 13.25 meters, and Tiffin's A 4x400 squad.

Coming in 3rd were Kirsten Camp in the pentathlon, Miaisha Blair in the triple jump, and Mary Boyden in the shot put.
