Peterson Fuels Dragons Past Panthers in Home Opener

The Dragons (8-6, 3-3 G-MAC) hosted Kentucky Wesleyan College for their home opener after playing the first 13 matches on the road.

After dropping the first set, Tiffin took control of the match by winning the next three in a row to take victory for the first time on home court this season, 3-1 (17-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-14).

The Dragons fell behind early in the first set, 8-1, and fought back to within seven points. That is as close as they would get as the offense struggled, hitting just .057 percent.

The offense bounced back in set number two, en route to a 25-17 victory to even the match at 1-1. Fueled by the cheers of the home crowd, Tiffin caught fire in the third set rattling off 14 kills as a team on a massive .464 hitting percentage.

The Dragons held an 8-5 lead in the fourth set before a huge 12-3 run made it 20-8. The remainder of the set was straight-forward for Tiffin as they returned to .500 in conference play.

Junior Taylor Peterson led the Dragons with a season-high 13 kills on .400 percent hitting. She added six digs and a block on the defensive side as well. Kenedi Goon and Wakaya Wilson each recorded nine kills followed by Kaylee Freund with six.

Olivia Karhoff led the team with 18 digs followed by Addison Conti with 15, who tallied a double-double after posting 20 assists. She split time setting with Clare Kwiatkowski who added 16 assists and four digs. Freund finished with a team-high five total blocks while Alivia Rew contributed with four.

Tiffin returns to action on Saturday, September 30th at 10 a.m. when they face Trevecca Nazarene for the second time this season.
